5 Herbal Stress Reliever Tips

I just got off the phone with my daughter and we we're discussing all the upcoming events over the next three months. My head started to spin and I thought to myself, "I'm going to need some stress relievers!"

Sidebar! Keen to help redesign the bland appearance with my current blog. Thoughts about the modern branding at https://rnrheatingandcooling.com? Really an awesome furnace maintenance service in Bridgeport that cares whenever needed within the general CONNECTICUT location. Leave your opinions. Thanks!

I'm sure you have seasons like this, too! Family birthdays, holidays, a son's wedding, Christmas plays, anniversaries, and let's just throw a couple wedding showers - one to host - in there for good measure.

If you are anything like me all those events can add up to a brain that won't shut off, late nights, and more cakes and sweets than my weight scale can handle.

My first thought was: how can I remain healthy, get enough sleep AND enjoy these precious times?

It's one thing to say I'm going to not stress out and keep myself sane so I have lots of energy for it all. It's another to actually be able to implement it in the midst of the fray.

1. Take adaptogenic herbs. Adaptogenic herbs are known for being able to help the body adapt to stress and retain a sense of balance. Too much stress weakens the immune system, causes adrenal fatigue and creates an imbalance in body systems. Good adaptogenic herbs that energize the body and keep the immune ssystem functioning well are Siberian ginseng (Eleutherococcus senticosus), reishi mushroom (Ganoderma lucicum), rhodiola (Rhodiola rosea)and wolfberries (Lycium barbarum)

Wolfberries are easy to take in juice form. This herb is also known to increase endurance and lessen the chances of a weakened immune systems in athletes. You may not be an athlete but I'm sure you have times where you've felt like you we're running a marathon!

2. Have a good supply of lavender essential oil on hand. Lavender drops on the corner of my pillow each night are vital to a good night's sleep. When you have an especially busy season, book in a bath for yourself. Yes a bath. Soak in a tub of warm water with a few drops of lavender eessential oil. Diffuse lavender essential oil in your home when you are doing your housecleaning or cooking. Lavender will calm you and keep your nerves from getting frazzled, thus increasing your energy and decreasing stress.

3. Calming herbs: Be sure to take calming herbs such as Chamomile (Matricaria recutita) , Lemon Balm (Melissa officinalis), or Catnip (Nepeti cataria) during busy times. These herbs work on the central nervous system keeping your frazzled nerves at bay and preventing anxiety. All of these herbs can be taken as a tea.

4.Increase the warm, spicy herbs in your cooking. Ginger, cayenne, mint and cinnamon are all warm and spicy herbs that increase circulation and may increase your metabolism temporarily. Inhaling Peppermint essential oil is especially nice to reduce fatigue and increase mental clarity and focus.

5. Don't consume stimulating drinks. Yes, I love my coffee too! However, during busy times stress is already a foe to contend with. Don't increase your stress further by drinking stimulating beverages like coffee. Green tea or peppermint tea maybe a better choice for the morning. Green tea is full of antioxidants, increasing your immune system. As well, it has just the right amount of caffeine for the kick you need, as opposed to the more stimulating drink.

One last tip: learn to say NO to some things. There's only one of you! To be energized, at peace and fun to be with, we need to keep some margin in our life for relaxation and doing things we love to do.

Tell me what your thoughts are on these tips! I'd love to hear your comments below.
